Review: My First Dry Curly Hair Cut Experience By A Hairdresser!

Full review inside:

I finally have opted for a hair cut!! So that's it I am completely natural eek! I love it and my hair feels and looks the healthiest it has ever been. As you know if you are also a transitioner this is such a difficult time, your hair will go through a ton of changes!

So lets talk about the cut. I went to a curly hair specialist 'Lindsey Hughes'
who works in Birmingham, UK but now is travelling to work in London every month. I was lucky enough to catch her this month whilst she was here and went for the plunge of getting my hair cut. I was so nervous as this is the first time I have visited a hair salon since transitioning over a year ago. I was also very anxious as too what reaction I would get from her (Your hair is so thick, It needs washing it needs this and that). Which I am used to from past experiences!

Lindsey was working independently at the RedHead Salon in London and I was greeted warmly with a smile and complimented on how much she LOVED my hair and couldn't wait to get her hands on it. She immediately asked me exactly what I wanted and then suggested what she thinks will work by reshaping my hair carefully to match my facial structure. I was impressed! And became even more confident with her chopping the damage off. The cut was done on dry hair in small sections and then curl by curl where needed.

After the cut she then took me to the sink and co-washed my hair following up with a deep condition and boy oh boy did that feel AMAZING! If you are a natural like me you will know the pain of having to detangle and deep condition your own hair every week! For someone to be able to do this for you without you worrying or being in pain is so relaxing. She finger detangled each strand and soaked it in the product.

Next step was to penetrate the deep conditioner by going under the dryer for around 10 minutes. She then rinsed and styled my hair. During this process we also had such an amazing conversation about her enthusiasm and passion for curly hair and what her plans are for the future in this industry. She made me feel really at home and pampered. To style my hair she used products that she had seen me review before and ones she loves to use herself. These were all natural products too which was a huge relief for me as I just knew my hair would turn out amazing and it did!

Products Used:
Cantu Co-wash - Co-washing after the cut
Cantu Deep Treatment Masque - Deep conditioning to detangle and leave under heat for 10 mins
CURLS Curlada Conditioner - To rinse out deep conditioner
Boucleme Conditioner - Leave in
Boucleme Curl Cream - Extra moisture
Boucleme Gel - Styler
SheaMoisture Curl & Style Milk - Great for the ends when hair is dry

I would definitely recommend Lindsey as a stylist for your curls if you live in the Birmingham or London areas (I would even travel far for her!). I now will visit her at least once a month or every 2-3 months for a great wash and style (trim if needed).
